Long ago, I ran a
Bulletin Board System, and developed a number of
second-rate online games (called doorgames in BBS
lingo) such as WarWorld/HighGuard, Farkle, Ant Wars, WarpWar and
various cheezy card-games, in Microsoft
VisualBASIC 1.0 for DOS.
As the "state
coordinator" of CAR-PGa, I scanned for
biased, misleading, or flat out erroneous
coverage of role-playing games in mainstream
media, and then made fun of the journalists for
being sloppy, lazy and/or stupid, as the spirit
moved me. Being "state coordinator"
meant that I was also supposed to be doing some
sort of "coordinating", or something,
but that wasn't nearly as much fun.
My rebuttal to
"D&D is evil" nonsense is a part of
the soc.christian.region FAQ, but the June
1995 article titled "The Truth: On
Sale Now" for the North Texas Skeptics is probably
better. If you really like that sort of thing, I
wrote a lot of stuff like that at the time.
For about a year, I was
the author of Ack! on rpg.net, which was a
regular column at the time, and now isn't.
As Dundee, I posted tons
of nonsense to rec.games.computer.ultima.online for a couple of
years. Some of the funnier stuff posted to that
forum is here.
Then I decided to do it
myself: And became the developer, co-Founder and
Lead Administrator of The World of
Dreams, an Ultima Online
"emulated" server.
After WoD, I moved on to
create Ackadia, a
player-policed, low-admin sort of emu, which is a
great deal of fun.
Currently I work for Sony Online
Entertainment as a World Designer for Star Wars
Galaxies.
