UO Stories

Most of these stories were originally written in the Ultima Online News Group.  None of them - except the unfinished Monroe Chronicles - are fiction.  They're all just observations of game-play.  Eventually I will search through Dejanews Archives and get the dates that these were originally written... but they were all written between October of 1998 and May of 1999.

I'm Officially A Newbie - My first post to the rec.games.computer.ultima.online group after buying Ultima Online.

I'm Officially A Dead Newbie - Guess what happened between this post and the last one. ;)

I Went Hunting Tonight And Didn't Die - A Success Story.

It's Not The Destination; It's The Journey - An essay about playing online games with friends, and what happens when you find out you're not necessarily there for the same thing.

Moonglow, My Brother, And A Backup Plan - Janey learns the importance of not putting all your eggs in one basket.

Backup Plan Part II, and Conversations With Tailors - Exactly what it says there.

What I Want - Dundee asked, in a newsgroup post, what I wanted.  This was my answer.

New Bow For Janey - Quest for a Special Bow.

The Incident (Or, How Janey Lost A Bit Of Innocence) - First run-in with The Meanies. I'm sure it won't be the last.

Best Dressed Britannian - New Outfit, and an idea for a shop.

Random Thoughts, Questions, and Wishes - Twenty things I have been thinking about lately.

Janey Gets Bitter - About the lack of vendors (which I'm not bitter about), and some idiots bothering me (which I am).

Monroe is Risen - What happens after we find out that Monroe, the tailor from Papua with the wonderful green isn't really dead!

Monroe Will Come Again - 2nd part to The Monroe Chronicles.

The Most Fun - Miscellaneous Ramblings.

Appointment for an Audience with Lord British - 3rd installment of The Monroe Chronicles.

A Proposal Of Marriage - A proposal in the guest book got me thinking about the implications of an in-game marriage.

Quests for the Courter - Quests don't have to be things that the game gives you.

I got Pee-Kayed Last Night - Two years later, I am still bitter that the guy stole my sandals, too.

Drakes, Frustration, and the Number Game - Now that I'm big, I'm frustrated with it.

Verily, *I* Doth Suck - Magnus isn't the only one around here who doth sucketh.
