... and I didn't even have to camp for it.
 
 
We were out hunting - you know - like normal people.  Not lure-n-killing, not standing around waiting for stuff to spawn.  Actually out running around looking for things to kill (damn I love that).
 
I hit my Tracking button, and saw a named mob.  I said, "NamedMob?  I wonder what that is."  So we track it around the corner till we see it.  It was yellow.  I said, "Let's kill it."
 
So I thistled Davian, he attacked, and I stinging swarmed the mob and then sat.  I said, "Use Lay Hands."  He said okay.  I stinging swarmed again and sat.  Dav used lay hands.  And his health dropped, and dropped, and dropped. I stood and used Careless Lightning.  "The target has resisted your spell!" "NamedMob says, 'hit by non-melee for 40 damage!"  Grr.
 
So I healed Davian.  But I wasn't fast enough.. and by this time, I was out of mana.  Davian died.  I ran up to melee NamedMob, even though I figured I was going to die, too.  It hit me, and hit me, and hit me.  I was down 2 bubbles of health.  But then... the amazing happened...
 
It started to run.

I was OOM, though, you know... and my 2h blunt skill is only 71 out of a possible 112, which is a lot less than the 140 that the melee characters get.  And I don't have very good strength.  And not only that, but I wasn't using my Bloodforge Hammer because they are slow and I wanted to gain skill.  Instead, I was using a Fine Steel Great Staff.  Not even a very good weapon.  Even so, I followed NamedMob, and followed him, and followed him.

You hit NamedMob for 7 damage!
 
I followed NamedMob half way across the zone.  By this time, Davian was almost back to his corpse.  It really must have been a good ten minutes.
 
Finally, NamedMob fell.
 
And I got something cool.  :)
 
It wasn't a REALLY cool, game-defining item, you know.  But it was something.  And it absolutely made my day.  I gave it to Davian, since he was the one who died for it.

I'm not going to tell you what it is, because that would count as a spoiler.  Don't worry, though, it's not really anything anybody would want to Camp For... it's not a game breaker item like a Giant Zwiehander or something.  Just a little perk.

But it was special to me, because it was the very first magical thing that I have actually *found* off of a corpse, rather than buying at the bazaar from one of the campers.

And the best part about it?  I did it my way.

I even petitioned it.  "Hey!  I got a rare item off of a mob without camping!  Somebody better fix that, quick - or else other people will start doing that, too, and the whole game will go in the crapper!"

I didn't get a response.
