I Finally Get A Last Name

At level 18, I said, "I really ought to start thinking of a last name."

At level 19, I thought, "I get my last name next level. Really need to figure out what I want."

At level 20, people said to me: "Hey! You're 20! Congrats! What are you going to choose for a last name?" I answered: "No clue. I want to be Rori O'Something, but I don't know what."  I'm half way through level 21 now, and still don't know what I want. Maybe by 25 I will figure it out.

Was going to be Rori O'Brae, but Dundee & Shay are DeBrae, and they made 20 before I did, so that would be a little silly. Found a searchable Gaelic dictionary, and did some searches. Tree, Forest, Grass, Green, etc etc etc. Most of the words either had a lot of vowels in them, or a lot of Ds, Bs, and Hs - usually all in a row. Coiadbh. That sort of thing.

Rori Coiadbh. Doesn't really have a very good ring to it.

One that I did like, though, was Faiyr. It means Grass. See, I'm a druid, so I wanted to pick something a little outdoorsy. Rori Faiyr. It's not O'Something, but I kind of like it. And for a long time, back when I played UO, my big quest was to become The Fair Janey. So in EQ, I could become The Faiyr Rori. I don't know, though. I wish I could find an O'Something that made me happy. Maybe I'll just pick a good EQ-Druid name like Rori MobKiter.

After the big long Usenet Discussion about what to choose for a last name, I decided on Faiyr.  Zatozia the GM gave me my name. She was pretty cool about it. She asked me if I thought I was worthy of a last name... did a little bit of RP stuff... and then Zapped me and I had one. Like a fairy godmother - except I think she was Zatozia the Torturer, so I'm not sure if I'd want a fairy godmother with a name like that.

Then she asked Davian if he wanted one, but he declined. I took some screenshots of me getting my last name, and then her POOF!ing out with a bang (and some very cool spell effects). I'll put them on the web page with all the other zillion screenshots a bit later (except I never did, and now they are lost in time).
